I tried to do it for a machinima, the invisible grappling hook was useful, but I get these results:

What in 0.8.8 does Neko specifically use that isn't the normal character files?

You need to look for the file scripts/player_neko.shader and include that.

if the 0.8.5 version is about the grappling hook it's possible to make an invisible hook for 0.8.8

You could make a new weapons_grapple.shader and have no stages.
