There are more and more bots. In 0.8.0. Sorceress was added (but she has some bugs in AI). They are adding bots, but it's hard work. All bots have they special abilities, not only textures. Like Kyonshi dies and kills all the time. Mayor rails like crazy. etc.

I think you need to set sv_maxclients to allow more clients.

You can do this in a shortcut or from the command line by adding: +set sv_maxclients 20

or at the ingame console, you can enter: /set sv_maxclients 20

If you want the new setting to be the default, use "seta" instead of set.

Hope this does it.

Also try :

/addbot

Which handles a few parameters.

Yeah, that was just an example, not sure exactly how high it can go. Give 24 or 32 a shot. Wink

I believe you can raise your com_hunkMegs to something much higher to accommodate this, though it may not count swap space at all.

sv_maxclients seems to max out at 64 (like how vanilla unmodified Quake is limited to "only" 16 slots), though my old obsolete piece of junk system becomes unplayable long before this is reached... not to mention the maps.  If you have enough memory and raw computing power, it could (easily?) work.

The engine is limited at 64 clients but there are other places that it can go wrong. The game saves a lot of data (like session data) in CVARs that has a max length and can overflow long before the 64 client limit is reached.

Anyone remember the 64-player Quake II game where they lined everyone up and had the guy at the end fire a railgun?
