multi tasking

hi guys
im using OpenArena on my laptop  but i like to watch movies at the same time on the other screen in gnome desktop. i was wondering if there was a way to lock the game on screen 1 and instead of blanking out screen 2, leave screen 2 active but lock the mouse and controls to the game so people can monitor there Ebay or play a movie for a friend while playing
