UPDATE: It has been reverted.
Thanks for the feedback!

I've temporarily changed the theme of the site to gather opinions about it.

It's not permanent; the site will return to its old azure self in a week.



Also, Neko's in the random header.  She's still not done unfortunately, all the attempts at rigging her so far have been bad.

New theme looks better (http://openarena.ws).  Azure and other blue hues are usually great for sites but the old design is ugly compared to the new ones.  Would love to see the new one implemented prior to the release of 0.8.7 (hoping this will still happen in 2011).

Yeah, the site theme is good, the sole issue with it that 0.8.5 went to the blue style and this doesn't fit.

I have déjà vu. I think some OpenArena related site had that design a long time ago, it seems familiar. I like red too, maybe because it's refreshing after the blue or maybe because it get's closer to the Q3 theme. Did you decide for a font for the logo? A different font could spice up the header more.

yeah your right it does look familar but sometimes change is needed it looks nice maybe chaing the color scheme and putting Mega clan all over it??

In plus of the color, I like the fact the layout has changed. I'm not a big fan of portal-like layouts.
It also looks more like a game website than prior.
All-blue may not be mandatory, even if the game menu remains as it is (until some better design is made ?). Maybe blue didn't fit the game that well after all.
Our french community website has similar colors.
Maybe there could still be some graphical polishment on that theme, I think about:
- the top left rounded corner which looks a bit "pixelized", I'm not sure what's wrong with it nor how it can be better.
- the horizontal cut of the blood split
- on my screen resolution (1440x900), the red color of the blood filled top bar is a bit overwhelming, while the screenshots you put feel a bit tight

i think you should just keep the layout and keep it for all pages on the site..


call a vote on the homepage we get tired of the regular layout (thats been here for years)....
