I'm going on a hunt of Q3A maps for OA. Should I avoid maps that obviously use Q3A textures or are there GPL replacements so that Q3A maps still work fine?

Thanks

Well, in default terms, there is a slight chance that some maps will miss some Quake 3 textures.

Jackthompson did a replacement package with dummy textures: http://rapidshare.com/files/141941180/gpl-q3a2oa-textures_v4.zip.html

One of the aims of 0.9.0 is to replace all Q3 textures, Udi works on this, progress is here: http://openarena.ws/board/index.php?topic=2823.msg29535#msg29535

I've played a few Q3A maps that used the Q3A textures heavily.  They looked ugly, but played just fine.

Do Q3A maps have bot support for OA? Or if not is there someway I can add support or am I out of luck if I don't have the source?

Thanks again Cheesy

That's map dependent. If the map's pk3 has an aas-file, then it supports. If there isn't, there is a good chance that bspc can create you one. bspc is available in any Q3 mapmaker program, Google....) Bspc uses the compiled map (bsp), so you don't need the sources.

Actually, in this point, they're the same.

crazy idea - bspc built into the engine?  Cheesy

asking when OA3 will be done won't get OA3 done.
Progress of OA3 currently occurs behind closed doors alone

I do not provide technical support either.
